Giuani Piazza
Johann (Giovanni/Giuani) Piazza (Unterplatzer) worked as a sculptor on the Cudan farm in St. Ulrich. He was married to Teresa Sopperra from Laste and had four children. His oldest son was Luis da Cudan, the husband of Frida Piazza. His poems consist mostly of individual, disconnected thoughts. In the works he wrote during World War I, he describes the landscape, the situation, the feelings, and the nostalgia of the soldiers during the war. There is no shortage of critical poems against the war. Other poems by Giuani Piazza deal with nature, friendship, love, or the Ladin language. The post-war poems deal with life in the family, village, or valley, and hunting. The main characteristic of his works is the deep religiosity of the author.
