Gianni Pezzei, born in Liviné, was a sculptor and painter, who created numerous sculptures in public spaces. After attending art school in Wolkenstein, he enrolled at the Brera Academy in Milan. From the 1970s, he devoted himself to wood carving and the creation of bronze sculptures. He presented his works in various solo exhibitions. He received several awards and prizes, including the Arte e lavoro award (2005) from the city of Belluno. Pezzei also created numerous murals and paintings, including the najf cycle, which dealt with his object of admiration: the mountain in all its forms.
