Aurelia Moroder Langer

Aurelia Moroder Langer was an artist from Ortisei who painted over photographs and on Easter eggs. Through her father, Josef Moroder from Jumbierch, she learned the art of drawing and painting. She started off by painting box lids and Easter eggs then, following her wedding, she moved on to photographs by her husband. She painted these photos using a special technique with colours and petrol. Her husband, Stefan Langer, born in Biala in Silesia, had come to Val Gardena to make altars, but later started working as a photographer. After her husband’s death in 1946, Aurelia continued working at the Foto Langer studio and shop in Ortisei, along with her two daughters.
