Martino Gabrielli
Martino Gabrielli was a priest and painter of the Fiemme school, who learned from the renowned master Giuseppe Alberti and his compatriot Giovanni Felicetti. In 1704-05, he began to paint on his own, for instance the Regola Feudale chapel in Predazzo or the Madona del Rosario panel painting in the St Eliseo church in Tesero (1714). Several of his paintings can be seen in Val di Fassa, including the altarpiece with the death of St Joseph, the Annunciation (c. 1730), the Carmine panel, and the Adoration of the Shepherds in the church of San Giuseppe in Moena (1742). The chapel in Peniola was designed entirely by Gabrielli; it depicts a complete cycle of the life of St John of Nepomuk and the five joyful mysteries.
