Roland Verra

Roland Verra is a Ladin poet. He taught for a number of years in middle and high schools after completing his studies in literature and foreign languages. He served as Val Gardena and Val Badia Ladin School´s Mayor from 1992 to 2018. His literary publications include L cudejel di dis y dla sajon; Dërc y storc, Sun lim de plata, Te me ancontes śën, Plates de calënder, Mpue' de zes, La rojules tardives, Flistres and Jan sul troi dla desmincënza (a novel). Additionally, he published books on Ladin literature, including Prim symptom d’autonomn. Cunsunanzes poetiches cun Max Tosi and edited school materials, such as Ancuntedes and Eghes. In collaboration with the photographer Hans Rabanser, he published the books Gröden: Begegnungen. Einblicke and Ladinien. 5 Täler in den Dolomiten (both also in Italian). The book Una ladinia possibile provides an overview of the Ladin way of life in the Dolomites and suggestions for improving unity. Roland Verra’s essays and scientific articles discuss topics in linguistics, literature, history and pedagogy. Roland Verra also wrote the script for the movie Le regn de Fanes, as well as several radio and television programmes.
