Peter Demetz da Fëur

Peter Demetz da Fëur was a painter from Val Gardena. From 1943 onwards, he taught at the Art Schools in Ortisei and Selva for 32 years. He exhibited his works through Ortisei´s Artistic and Cultural Association and also with the Ruscel Group. He was a member of the Südtiroler Künstlerbund. His early paintings were greatly influenced by the works of Gustav Jahn, whom he held in high esteem. He captured ’his’ mountains in his watercolours and landscapes. He studied and painted the Dolomites at different times, capturing their atmosphere with his own personal touch. Peter Demetz’s paintings also depict numerous farmsteads in Val Gardena. Some houses in Ortisei are decorated with frescoes by Peter Demetz.
