Francesco Ferdinando Rizzi was born in Campitello. As a child, he developed a passion for drawing, caricaturing, and painting. After experiencing significant financial difficulties, he was able to attend the Staatsgewerbeschule in Innsbruck for one year. To make a living with portraits and decorations, he attended drawing schools and academies in Munich and Prague. Eventually, he returned to Val di Fassa, where he mainly painted mountain landscapes. During World War I, he served as a war painter. Later, he settled in German-speaking areas, first in Berchtesgaden and then in Munich. During World War II, he documented the living conditions of soldiers in the hospital in Munich as a war painter.
